Accessibility is Realized When Everyone Understands

Focusing on SignTong and Ongl, we explore technologies proven in public and everyday settings,

as well as the future direction of accessibility as it expands into broader areas.

In August, we shared that EQ4ALL had been named a finalist in the Digital Inclusion category of the Digital@UNGA Awards 2026. The next chapter of that story unfolded at the awards ceremony in New York on September 21.

EQ4ALL was named a runner-up in Digital Inclusion. One winner and four runners-up were selected in the category.

Through SignTong, our AI-powered sign language service, and Ongl, our service that transforms complex information into Easy-Read text, we have focused on a question that goes beyond access to information: Can people understand and use the information they receive?

From finalist to runner-up: the story continues

In our previous post, we asked:

“Is technology creating equal opportunities for everyone?”

This recognition does not mean we have found a complete answer. We see it as encouragement to keep working so that more people can access essential information in a language and format they can understand.

Information accessibility cannot be achieved through technology alone. It takes listening to the people who use it, building with them, and testing how it works in real settings. EQ4ALL has continued to develop SignTong and Ongl in collaboration with Deaf colleagues, external Deaf experts, Soso Communication, an organization specializing in Easy-Read information, and many other partners.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. We will keep connecting technology with people so that everyone can understand information, make their own decisions, and participate more fully in society.
